The Dog Moms of Durham was established in July of 2023 by founder Michelle Shaffer. As a dog mom and active member in the Durham dog community, she saw the need for a resource that connects dog moms with each other, as well as local businesses and organizations that are dedicated to bettering the life of our beloved, four-legged family members.

Set up as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, The Dog Moms of Durham is a volunteer run organization that works towards building a stronger dog community in Durham, NC. We strive to be a resource for dog owners to connect to like-minded people, businesses, and organizations. We do this by hosting social activities, supporting local businesses, and fundraising for local animal organizations.

In 2023, The Dog Moms of Durham hosted a total of 12 social meet ups, attended 5 community dog events, and hosted 1 large festival! These events helped raise over $1500 for local rescue organizations! In 2024, we plan to host 24 social meet ups, attend 10 community dog events, host 2 large festivals and raise over $5000 for local rescue organization.
